The Ophan fortunes

From time to time someone asks us where the Ophan quotes come from. This fortune file is a legacy from projects from more than 10 years ago, and has been passed down from site to site as the core creative group moves on to better things. It grows constantly, a mishmash of interesting things heard in passing, read in books, seen on TV, heard on the radio, or encountered in conversation. The database began as a means of inspiration, a way of reminding ourselves the way dialogue could be enhanced by a creative turn of phrase or a twist on the expected. It became a collection of memorable moments, and as such is something we treasure.

The quotes are presented from the Ophanim as little snippets of interesting, and are not attributed because, most importantly, we can't remember where most of them came from. Aleph was the only one who could keep track of the 1000+ quotes, and when she got her head smashed in with a car, that information was left on the pavement. (That's how she phrases it.) It's also part of the charm, for us, that these quotes are disconnected from their context. To us, these gems are just there as little sparks to light the imagination, and possibly bring a smile to our faces.

That said, however, if you are the creator of any of these quotes, and do not wish us to present them in this way, please let us know by sending an email to the webmaster. We will remove them without hesitation. We are big believers in intellectual property and have no desire to hurt anyone's creativity.
