Artist's Notes

I spent so much time on the stones, and I don't regret a moment of it, except the moments I tried to airbrush the faux-tigerseye before I went back to the drafting board and pencilled it out. I'm particularly happy with the opal, that's my first attempt at opal and it made me pretty darn happy. The labradorite is still not coming out the way I'd like it to, but, it's lovely just the same.

I decided not to contort the bubbles to make sure you knew who was talking. The unattributed bubbles are all Yusom, I was hoping the text and the context would let you know that, but just in case, now you know. Also, in case anybody's confused, his eye IS supposed to look a touch dead when it first opens.

Okay, the wide shot was fail, and I would normally have touched it up a lot better but I was really having trouble with my eyes. I was originally going to have tatters of the tentacles raining down there, but the guidemarks were enough to suggest it, and the frame was already way too chaotic. I've been ragged on in the past about not putting enough dust/grime/noise in the foreground in dusty shots, I make no apologies for the middle frame. I'm not working for accuracy, but for expression, so, I'm going to overcome that must-include-everything compulsion, it clutters up and steals impact from the art.

I just wish I hadn't struggled so much with the smaller art. My glasses are waaaay out of date but considering everything else going on right now I can't really see making an eye appointment in the middle of it.

This is the end of this scene, and I need to refresh my memory because research for the next sequence was soooo long ago. You'll understand when you see it. I also need to take some time to make sure the last few scripts are polished up and ready to go, just in case.
